So here's what happened in my neck of the woods today!

Woke up. Took Loren to work. And started the rainy trek towards Kaiser Walnut Creek.

Finally found out where I was supposed to be. Jeez... that place is like movin cattle. So I only had to wait a few moments before seeing Elizabeth, my Nurse Practitioner.

So we talked. 3rd question out of her mouth... " so.... when's the last time you had lab work done? "

Me: " :: looks at ground :: Never... see.. I have this thing about needles. " And I went on explaining to her the fainting and throwing up and the crying and the etc.etcetc

She said that was fine and that she'd figure out a painless way for me to get blood drawn. next we talked about my foot. She contacted Podiatry and they're going to call me. I'll probably need a specialist. Wooo.

She prescribed me a medication for my toe and the infection it has. We also talked about my weight and mental health history. She gave me a few phone numbers.

She called the lab and they told her of a few options for making my blood draw painless.

Option 1: They " freeze " my arm and numb it and then I quickly run downstairs to the lab in hopes of getting in line and drawn before the stuff wears off which isn't a lot of time.

Option 2: I buy this stuff called Emla which is a numbing cream.

I went with option 2. The shit cost me 15 bucks!

Damnit.

So then I hoofed it down to the lab and put the cream on. The lab had already been warned about me and found the best person there.

His name... was Kevin.

Kevin told me we could take all day if I wanted. They put me in my own room. Found the smallest needle they could and then.... we waited.

I was terrified. It took them an hour and a half to finally convince me to do it. It took 3 nurses total to hold me down/hold my hand/draw the blood.

I think the numbing agent finally kicked in or the fact that Kevin really was that good because it didn't hurt.. I was shaking and whimpering the whole time.

Afterwards, Kevin gave me a hug. And the other nurse gave me some applejuice. And I was on my way.

The End :)

Hm...
