So let me clarify a few things on my update from my training.

And then I'm going back to bed because my sleep schedule is all kinds of screwed up.

I finally found the place after a long drive to Menlo Park. The guy on duty was named Mohammed.

I didn't even learn his name until I clocked in and saw he was the only male tech working ( we have a network of labs so we can see who's working where ) that night so I figured it had to be him.

So he was working on a patient and hooking him up with electrodes. ( process known as Hooking Up )

He doesn't tell me anything. He just works, without speaking, on the patient. The patient is a really nice guy. All of 19 years old. Mohammed like pushes REALLY hard on the electrodes to make sure they're sticking. Which if I were a patient I seriously wouldn't be happy with. Also, I'd like it if the tech had spoken to me instead of making me feel like an outlet for a plug and wires.

So then he finishes with the patient. And I finally see how unprepared this guy was.

When a patient comes in they're supposed to fill out a questionaire on their sleep habits. And then they get hooked up, etc.

He hadn't even printed out ANY paperwork for the 3 patients we had last night. He hadn't even prepped the computers to receive EAGS. ( the electronic waves produced by the body through the electrodes )

In a matter of moments I had all the paperwork printed out, prepped the computers, had the patients filling out their questionaires, and had the first patient prepped with a dvd and had his data being recorded.

And I'd only seen it done once!!

So please note, that I wasn't being cocky in my last post. I just felt like I taught myself more than the tech did. And when we had a few moments of downtime which he could have used to teach me things or to do a little more work, the guy goes online to check his e-mail and his bank account.

So I'm a little disappointed. Hopefully whoever I work with thursday and friday are better and actually TEACH me something.

Last friday, when I went in and basically got an overview. That's when I learned how to do the paperwork and basic procedures. That's when I learned where electrodes are placed and just more information in general.

The tech who taught me that was this AMAZING teacher named Mike. Great Guy. I really hope I work with him again. In fact, I'm going to request working with him as much as possible.

Well. With getting up every morning to take Loren to work on my way home, class, 3 hours worth of laundry yesterday, training, etc. I'm exhausted. So I'm going to eat. Drink some water. and Go to sleep.

And then when I wake up, I'm going to do homework, study my monologue and hopefully someone'll be free tonight so I can get some human contact.

Seeya!
