My newfound mission...
Aug. 20th, 2004 01:31 pmLately,
I've been pondering a lot of things. Swallowing my pride at a lot of decisions. And Finding my place in this world.
And I've decided to do something to better myself.
I've decided to take a personal spiritual/mental journey.
I have a good amount of highly talented and exceptional friends. I count myself lucky to know the people I know in my life and have fought personal battles to remain where I am with them.
My room has become my sanctuary. My altar if you will. It's the most peaceful and untainted by the outside world place that I know.
I can just walk into my room and be free. Free to just sit for hours on my bed with my cat, reading. Or just playing mindless games on my computer. Anything I want. It's my castle and I am the ruler.
For once... I actually missed my bed when I slept with Loren. I haven't missed my bed in years. I finally feel like I have a home after all this time.
So this is what I've decided to do.
I'm going to take advantage of my friends. Get to know them better. Learn what I can from them. And in turn, better myself and my friendships.
For example, from Johanna I may learn how to make a good tea service. Or sew something I can be proud of other than a pillow.
From Ryan I could learn about one of the dreaded non-topics... Politics, Religion, Sports :)
From Alex I could learn about photoshop or comic books.
From John I could experience sailing.
From James in Santa Cruz I could learn some martial arts moves.
From Dave Webb I could learn more about the art of Zen.
From Ginger, the art of enjoying silence :)
From Missy, How to bathe and groom doggies.
From Dave L, stage lighting.
From Bill, Riding sport bikes or more shooting practice.
The list goes on and on... I have so many amazing people in my life that I think it'll help me become a Jill of all trades and maybe in turn I could teach them something.
So pick a day. Pick a skill. And if you're on my friends list then this includes you.
I'm not excluding anyone.
Teach me something.
I'm thirsty to learn :)
